I’ve been considering purchasing a security system, how do they work?
Security systems operate with a series of sensors that connect to a control panel. The control panel is located in an out of the way place, and contains the components that drive the system. Attached to the control panel will be a series of sensors from locations throughout your home or business. One or more keypads are installed in convenient locations throughout your home that allows you to control the system. When your security system is armed and the sensors detect an intruder or fire, a signal is sent to the control panel. The control panel is programmed to automatically send a signal to our central monitoring center, where the proper authorities are notified.
Another company has installed the security system in my home. Can you still provide monitoring services?
Most likely. Some security companies install proprietary equipment that cannot be monitored by anyone else. In some cases, older systems may have to be upgraded to more current technology to be properly monitored. We can work with you to upgrade or repair any existing system.
What about older buildings? Can you install a security system in an older home or office building?
Yes. We custom design all of the security systems that we install allowing us to work with any existing structure. Components can be hard wired within the home or office where space permits. Wireless components are also available when structural considerations prevent us from wiring.
I am building a new home. Can you work with my builder and me to design a security and fire system for my new home?
Yes, we work with many homeowners and their builders designing custom security systems for their home as part of the design process. Since each home is unique, we take pride in our ability to design affordable systems that will meet your individual needs. The initial wiring is done when the walls are in the framing stage and the components of the system are added when the interior of the home is completed.
We also provide the design and installation of sound systems, intercom systems and structured cable for telephone and data lines. Let us know if we can help you with any of these.
Will I get a discount on my homeowners insurance?
Generally speaking, yes. Most insurance carriers provide a discount for homeowners that have a monitored security system. The amount of the discount varies with each insurance company and ranges from 5% to 25%.
What type of telephone service do I need to have my security system monitored?
We can monitor your security system with any landline provider and will soon be offering security system monitoring over the Internet for homes without landline service.
Do you require a contract? How do I pay for your services?
Contracts for twelve-months are signed when your system is initially brought online, and renew annually. You can choose the frequency of your billing for monitoring services. Available plans allow you to choose billing annually, semi-annually, quarterly or monthly. If you choose to be billed monthly, we will set up your account to be paid through an auto draft of your checking account. After the initial twelve-month contract period, services may be cancelled with 30 days written notice.
If the power goes out, will my system still work properly?
Yes. All security system control boxes contain a battery that will activate in the event of a power failure and provide power to your system for several hours. In the event that your battery is low, a low battery signal will be sent to alert us of the need for replacement.
